Posted: 2020-01-11 23:09:51

 The Zoids Wild model kit section has been brought up to date, to include basic product details on all currently announced (standard-release) Wild kits. This includes build videos, weapon names, etc. We've got a lot of Wild kit news to cover in the official franchise announcements below!

ZW35 Drei Panther!  [Official]

Posted: 2020-01-11 23:08:16

 We have a ton of Wild and HMM kit news to sort through, so let's start with the Drei Panther! This cat was released on December 26th, for a price of 4,000 yen. It gets its name (Drei - German for Three) from the three blades hidden inside of its Shadow Shields. The whole unit is designed to emphasize stealth, silently sniping enemies with the guns on its back. As a side note, the Drei Panther is the smartest of all currently released feline Zoids in Zoids Wild, by far.

 TakaraTomy posted a couple of videos of its Machine Blast on twitter, and you can view its images and box art on the TakaraTomy Mall. It has a build video up on youtube already. You can also check out this tweet to see its beautiful smile~

ZW36 Rising Liger!  [Official]

Posted: 2020-01-11 23:07:56

 The ZW36 Rising Liger was also announced! This kit is scheduled to be released on January 25th for 4000 Yen, and has been one of the more heavily debated kits thus far. Originally leaked with an unpainted photo, the kits colors left a lot to be desired. However, as it turns out, the Rising Liger will be released in a beautiful painted gold (for all gold parts except the Evo Blast unit). The recent product photos make the kit look worlds better, and not only was it featured as the cover to the Zoids Wild Fan Book, but many theorize that it will (quite likely) have a major role in the anime soon.

 This kit is focused on a revolver scheme, with a spinning chamber and a gunblade on the front. It has a lot of heavy armor, and a new paw design. It is known to puff up its Rising Frill (Mane) and intimidate enemies with the Roar Cannon (unlisted). You can see a build review video with customization examples on TakaraTomy's channel, and a shorter build review video on CoroCoro Next. Here are some other posts on this Liger! Evo Blast Video, Photos, Close Up, Another Photo, and the Dengeki Hobby Article (with additional product photos).

 Zoids Wild Battle Card Hunter has released its new armor parts set, the Beast Liger Zero! This set features all new gold pieces to replace most of the red on the Beast Liger, along with transparent white armor. Paying homage to the Liger Zero, it's a kit worth picking up! Genospino Limited Rampage Form!  [Official]

It is limited to 100 lucky winners. You can view photos of it here and here. CoroCoro posted a regular Genospino image recently as well, but it doesn't warrant its own news post.

 The second CoroCoro 100 Genospino in a row, the Silver Dragon Form bares a striking resemblance to Zenebas Zoids of the OJR. It has beautiful silver armor over a dull red frame, which can be seen in CoroCoro's Article on it. Like always, this kit is limited to 100 lucky winners.

2nd Great Treasure Excavation Event!  [Official]

Posted: 2020-01-11 23:05:22

 We first saw this event in Zoids Wild: Battle Card Hunter, with the release of the limited (150) Wild Liger Crystal and (1000) Assault Boost Unit Clear Ver. Well, it looks like we're about to have a second competition! This time, we're mainly looking at the Fang Tiger Amber (150 released), which shows the Fang Tiger in a solid gold color. It... looks surprisingly nice! The runner up prize is the Buster Radar Unit Black Clear Ver. (1000 released) The more common prize will be a Buster Radar Unit Black Clear Ver. You can view a twitter post on these two kits here.

Unknown Zoid Teased in CoroCoro!?  [Official]

Posted: 2020-01-11 23:03:04

 The February issue of CoroCoro will come with a "Real Size Zoids Calender 2020", a special calender featuring Zoids in 1/1 scale around Shibuya in Japan. While this is cool, CoroCoro has also pointed out an unknown Zoid that will be featured in the calender. It's a little difficult to tell what type it's even supposed to be, but as far as I can tell, it doesn't match any of the leaked Zoid designs that we've seen so far.

Zoids Wild Custom Examples!  [Official]

Posted: 2020-01-11 23:03:03

 Aside from your typical custom examples, the folks at the Zoids Official twitter have started making customizing examples based on the variations in the Wild Zero instruction manuals. They are strikingly similar to the actual thing, and some of them are even made with the most basic of items!

 First up is the Gatling Fox Special Forces Spec., the Drei Panther Fighter Prototype, the Fire Genospino (with a second post), the Raptoria Ground Reconnaissance Spec. (with a second post), the black Triceradogos, and the Imperial Scorpear. All of these Zoids can be recreated using Zoids Wild kits and weapons sets. The following two ligers require additional items not sold in this franchise to create: The Beast Liger Amphibious Spec. and the Beast Liger variant that appeared in the first episode of Wild Zero.

 There was also a Beast Liger customization video, and a customs example video for the ongoing Zoids Wild custom contest.

HMM Model Kit News!  [Official]

Posted: 2020-01-11 23:03:01

 Kotobukiya has been teasing us about some upcoming images that aren't done yet, but soon! Perhaps this is related to the unpainted Wild Liger we saw earlier. Either way, let's go over other HMM news from the past couple of months while we wait.

- Great Sabre Marking Plus

 The Great Sabre is scheduled for a rerelease as the Marking Plus version! Like other Marking Plus, this will contain new decals as well as clear (colorless) parts in addition to the normal clear eye color, etc. It is scheduled to release in April 2020, for 7,800 yen.

- Saber Tiger Marking Plus

 Aside from Great Sabre, the original Saber Tiger was released a month or so ago, with modified box art. This box art contains a new atmosphere, and suits the Saber Tiger incredibly well! It also contained new decals and clear eye, etc. pieces.

- Shield Liger DCS-J

 The HMM Shield Liger DCS-J was released in November for 7,800 yen, and Kotobukiya has posted a blog post. This post shows off the kit as well as several different pose concepts, concepts that could have been for the box art! I think they chose the best one. It carries so much gravity for the battle story. We will get back to work on the Official Fan Books soon!

- Gojulas Gunner

 The Gojulas Gunner was released in November, for 29,800 yen. This kit was a Kotobukiya Direct exclusive. If you pre-ordered the kit you'd get all of the parts that came with Gojulas the Ogre, but if you purchased the kit after the release date, you only got the typical "Gunner" parts, which excluded some of the Ogre equipment. Kotobukiya made a blog post showing off this kit, along with its box art!

- HMM Rereleases!

 Kotobukiya has announced a slew of rereleases over the coming months! In April we have the Command Wolf Repackage for 4,800 yen. This is the white Command Wolf that comes with all of the different weapon loadouts. Also being released in April are the Molga and Molga With Canory Unit, as well as the Molga AA & Molga Carrier. Both Molga sets are releasing at 4,200 yen. Finally, we have the Storm Sworder rereleasing in May for 8,300 yen.

- Geno Saurer Repackage Ver.

    The HMM Geno Saurer Repackage Ver. is now popping up for pre-order! The kit will be released in March 2020, with a retail price of 8,200 yen. There's an article up on Kotobukiya's blog detailing the changes. The mold is the same as the latest Geno molds, for the most part. So let's go over the minor changes!

    - Now has a peg hole to support flying bases/stands
    - The transparent parts come in both clear red and colorless clear plastic
    - It contains a large number of decals compared to the original
    - The Repackage comes with a standard pilot
    - It includes the Raven spec. changes, which means it can completely straigthen out for the CPC pose.

Bone Geno & Gun Sniper Release!

    The two bone Zoids, originally on pre-sale at Dino Expo 2019 in Japan hit Kotobukiya Direct today! 4,620 yen for the Gun Sniper and 9,020 yen for the Geno Saurer. Since they are a Koto Direct exclusive they won't be reaching stores like HLJ or AmiAmi. You can still get the kit by going through a middle man service, so let's take a look at the options. The fees are the service fee only, not the banking, domestic shipping, etc.

    Celga: $10 fee for each item, with unlimited free storage. Orders are stated to take up to 1 ~ 2 business days. In my past 10 purchases, all were placed within 24 hours.

    From Japan: $3 service fee (basic) or $7 protection plan fee (includes domestic shipping insurance, check item service, international shipping insurance). Free storage for up to 45 days. No paid extension, item is discarded after 45 days. Items are purchased within 24 hours.

    White Rabbit Express: $13.44 fee for Geno, $9.33 for Gun Sniper. 30 days free storage, $1 per day after that. Orders are processed within 24 hours, aside from weekends and holidays.

    People who have sent in orders for the items through White Rabbit Express have been courteous enough to give us the price they paid, for those who have trouble working out fees! This price is not including shipping costs.

    - Both kits ordered at the same time totaled $155.33 USD, or $230 AUD
    - Ordering just the Geno Saurer totaled $103.94

Zoids Wild Kit News!   [Official]

Posted: 2019-10-17 04:00:00

- 500th Issue Anniversary Geno Spino!

    In celebration for reaching their 500th issue, the December issue of CoroCoro will contain a massive raffle. A grand total of 1,000 winners will be selected to receive a variety of prizes, from different series that are covered by CoroCoro. Although we don't yet have an official name, one of these Zoids has been teased on CoroCoro's announcement. A Geno Spino with bright red armor.

- ZW33 Geno Spino!

    Geno Spino has popped up on the TakaraTomy Mall! The kit is scheduled to be released on November 16th for 7,700 yen retail, though you can find better prices ordering through the typical stores. Dengeki Hobby Online posted an article containing some additional pictures of it and the Gatling Fox. TT posted a Twitter video of the Wild Blast. CoroCoro has posted an early build video as well as their typical build/review video, seen below.

    CoroCoro posted a picture from the November issue, showing off the Geno Spino page. It seems this Zoid is being treated as a true swimmer! It'll be a cool new take on a bad guy Zoid. While some (Death Stinger, etc.) have traveled in the water in the past, it was hardly exemplified to be a notable gimmick of theirs. The November issue also included a 3D Art Box (seen in the same link), which they posted a video of here.

- ZW34 Gatling Fox!

    Gatling Fox is up on the TakaraTomy Mall! You can view the box art and images. It's scheduled for a November 23rd release, for 3,850 through their shop. Dengeki Hobby Online posted an article containing some additional pictures of the Gatling Fox as well as the geno. TT posted a Twitter video of the Wild Blast. CoroCoro/TT have posted mirrors of the same standard build/review video, but the TT version (seen below) includes weapon customization examples.

- Beast Liger Limited All Clear Ver.!

    CoroCoro has posted an article on their upcoming all clear Beast Liger kit. As usual, there are 100 being released through the November issue of CoroCoro. They also posted a video (seen below) showing it off in a diorama format! The builder shows how he made the giant ice sculptures behind it.

Supposed Hasbro Zoid Leaks!   [Possible Leak]

Posted: 2019-10-07 05:00:00

    The internet has been flooded with images of Zoids Wild kits from Hasbro. Fans have been waiting for this for a long time, and a lot has developed in the last few days. Where is this leak from, and what do we know? We'll go over everything below.

    We first learned about Hasbro's handling of Zoids Wild at Mipcom. We saw a brand new logo, which matches these boxes. The tag line was "Build Them To Life!", which has been changed to "Build Them To Battle". We also recently heard from TakaraTomy's 2019 financial report that they planned to see Zoids Wild aired on tv and toys distributed in the UK and US markets during fiscal 2019, which in Japan lasts until the end of March. So, this leak was released at a good moment to fit in with our current timeline.

    It originally surfaced from In Demand Toys on Facebook, a shop in the UK that sells a variety of products. They responded to inquiries about the source, answering that the images came from Hasbro itself. This likely means a mass dispatched catalog sent out to stores and distributors.

    What do we know about the toys themselves? Well, to start with, they'll be in plastic packaging with a small window, showing viewers that the kits come pre cut, with no hassle or sharp tools needed. The toys will also have some minor differences from the Japanese release.

    The first and most minor is that the bodies of the model kits appear to be split into two different colors. Black and a faint brown. The clear caps also seem to have different colors, shades, and transparencies from their overseas counterpart.

    Second, out of the five different kits we saw this week, two had significant mold changes. The most notable is the Gannontoise, which is a complete overhaul. Some fans have theorized this is due to the strict regulations of how gun toys must look in the US, but at this time that is only conjecture. We've color coded the changes below.

    Gannontoise Changes: See Image
    - Hinge joint on neck is changed (blue)
    - Gun barrel is changed (purple)
    - Gun attachment is changed (pink)
    - Back cover now attaches using a large hinge on the lower back (orange)
    - Spine no longer opens up with back shell (yellow)
    - Attachment for side armor is changed, may or may not still open up (green)
    - Caps have become a more solid color (cyan)

    Spideath Changes: See Image
    - Back armor plate now covers entire abdomen
    - This covers the black body underneath (red)
    - It also fuses the detail plate on the top (pink)
    - A weapon peg has been removed from both sides (green)
    - The caps have been changed to a less transparent purple (orange)

    These changes are hit or miss, and not all fans are happy. Especially those who have been waiting for Wild to come overseas so that they could buy the same kits without paying international shipping fees. On the other hand, people who want both versions will be happier knowing that they will have some differences between them.

    Aside from that, the renewed boxes are excellent. The amazingly detailed artwork will draw immediate attention to these toys, along with their crisp packaging design. It's a huge step up from what Hasbro has offered in the past. Even if some names are uh. Interesting.

    - Gannontoise --> Tanks
    - Gilraptor --> Ruin
    - Kuwaga --> Pincers
    - Raptor --> Rapterrix
    - Scorpear --> Needle
    - Spideath --> Phobia

    Perhaps most hyped about this announcement is the appearance of small pilot figures to ride on the Zoids. Though these are not 100% confirmed, they are present on the unpainted, unfinished product photos, which strongly implies that they'll be a part of the kit. Fans have wanted the individual pilots since Wild began, and if they are present, it's a big difference between domestic and international releases.

    It's important to remember that these aren't likely marketing product photos. They've not been painted or touched up, and some details may change between now and their final release.

First Great Treasure Excavation Competition!   [Official]

Posted: 2019-10-07 04:00:00
    Zoids Wild: Battle Card Hunter will be holding its first "Great Treasure Excavation Competition" event! During this event you'll be able to find hidden excavation points, where you'll obtain an application ticket for the battle. Each ticket will have a unique number where participants can enter the code at the bottom of the campaign page. At the end of the event, the winners will be announced!

    150 lucky winners will receive the Wild Liger Crystal, a limited kit cast entirely in clear plastic. 1,000 other winners will receive the Assault Boost Unit Clear Ver., also cast in clear plastic. There will also be limited time cards of the campaign Zoids found during this period. We've not yet seen what these look like, but they'll probably feature the beautiful cover art.

HMM Godos Old Republic Spec.!   [Official]

Posted: 2019-09-14 11:00:00

    A page is now up for the Godos Old Republic Spec.! You can view it on Kotobukiya's website We already knew that this version came with the traditional Godos canopy style, but it'll also be coming with additional decals and an extra sprue for the orange parts, cast in clear colorless plastic. With transparent paints you can create your own canopy colors! Aside from that it includes the parts to make the Standard type and the Heavy Armor Type. If you don't use the Heavy Armor parts, you can even convert it into an independant rover!

Koto Blog Updates!   [Official]

Posted: 2019-08-28 01:00:00

    Kotobukiya posted a blog post detailing some of their recently released Zoids, as well as discussing a few upcoming reissues. They confirmed that there will be no further update to the designs of the Geno Saurer and the Shield Liger, which is something many people have wanted, as both kits are known to suffer from some stability issues.

This also debunks any hopes that the DCS-J will feature an improved mold with better parts fitting. While Kotobukiya is aware of the wish for small updates like this, they also feel that the expectation for new kits is stronger than ever, and they hope to focus on expanding the HMM line as much as possible going forward, starting with the group of Zoids announced at the Second Stand River Battle.

    A very subtle footnote at the bottom of this post shows a teaser for the Godos Old Republican Spec., with more information expected in September.
