- That's Zoids "First Story"

"Zoids First Story" was developed as an educational and entertainment program for children who love the Zoids living on Planet Zi. All of the illustrations from Mercy Rabbit, which depict a number of funny reports that unfolded in the program handled by Räte, the big sister who loves Zoids, and Haken-kun, the mascot Zoid character, are included with original commentary.

- Big Sister Räte

A big sister who travels all over the world to provide first person reports and answer various questions about Zoids. The amount of knowledge she has about Zoids is so vast that it's said to exceed the capabilities of human intelligence. While her true identity is shrouded in mystery, there are rumors that she's just a Zoids fan. Her real name is Rätelme Faeroness (self-reported).

Haken-kun

The mascot character of the Zoids program, he asks his big sister simple questions and gives her sharp and witty comebacks. Blitz Haken is a BLOX Zoid, but this looks more like a costumeor a puppet. Hes always been a good performer, but the influence of his big sister has become more and more apparent, and sometimes he jokes around.

An image of the cores of the 3 legendary tigers. It was drawn with the idea of a container unit designed as a stable supply of energy, containing the actual core inside to improve its operating conditions. The design of each tiger is woven into the aesthetic for easy understanding, but it's a bit too easy to understand, isn't it (^ ω ^ ;?

The first piece of "Zoids First Story", and where it all began., I was convinced that I was assigned the task because of this hot spring picture, and I was a little nervous. It's kind of an example of how a present my work, such as the wild body monkey Zoids, and the Kong with a towel. The story of the girl's Brastle concept was provided by Mr. Nakase who was in charge of TakaraTomy at that time.

The main illustration for the 4th serialization is a Zoids Battle. It's full of cheap concepts like watching games, eating popcorn, and in the future, projecting large images in the sky, but they're all easy to understand visuals. I drew Haken-kun and his big sister for the early announcement last month, but was nervous about what the readers would think when they saw them posted without any captions.

An imaginary view of Phoenix, who resides in place where others can't go. As a product it can't easily take on such a pose, but it's my job to draw it in a natural pose that looks convincing to the readers. I folded the wings and drew it standing on a rocky outcropping near the crater.

A deformed Zero, watching Phoenix and full of envy while Haken-kun comforts him. One BLOX products were being released at the same time, so I tried to strike a balance. There aren't very many deformed Zoids products on the market, so I personally wanted it to continue.

I picked up the idea of using the Buster Claws as wings from one of the rejected designs for the Zero Falcon, and used it for this imaginary mass-production design. I had received word from TakaraTomy saying "You can draw whatever you like". Big sister's employee uniform, from when she joined ZOITEC for a day, are my favorite part.

An image of the Energy Liger. From the very start, I wanted to draw a picture with a flashy pose like in an anime, and I had a lot of fun drawing the background and lightning strikes. The product has a final boss kind of design, and its air gimmick is really interesting. It's a shame that it's a gimmick that you can't realy understand the charm of unless you play with it (^ω^;。

A Brastle Tiger defeated by the heat. After the meeting, I was given a yellow test shot Brastle Tiger by TakaraTomy to use as a drawing reference, so I used that. The product has a Thermal Burst firing state that's linked to opening and closing the heat sinks. I love Zoids, and wanted to find the right movement to match the character (´ ∀ ` ).

What would the Gairyuki look like if it had been designed by the engineers of the Eastern Continent? This was a drawing based on that idea, which came up in a meeting with the engineers. I drew it with the head of the original product underneath, but it's a design that can't really be established based on just the head (sweat).

I personally like the eco-friendly power of the gravity gimmicks, which don't use batteries. The gimmick of powering the flywhel motor all by yourself, simply by inserting and pulling out the winder is easy to feel in your hands, and the act itself is visually fun to play with!

The first order I got was to make the Buster Furher, which came even thicker than usual. The mass-production type uses a backpack established as a flight unit, at the abolition of the Unison gimmick... I made it with the idea that it could be recreated by mixing and matching parts along the main body, and then there was a dealer who made the garage kit at Wonder Festival. I was both surprised and happy!

The 5th main illustration in the series, Seismo & the World Domination Cannon (laughs). It was drawn in response to silly talk of tons of guns that came up during the meeting. I had a lot of fun painting the bottom of the Seismo like the draft line on a boat and made the Storm Sworders look like black and yellow carrier-based aircrafts, then added familiar meters on the interior walls of the ship.

Finally, the opportunity to explain Big Sister has come! I drew a rough sketch of her with her beasts exposed because it's a changing scene, but of course the editor rejected it (laughs). I'm so happy to get a name for her Mr. Z---ko... Wait, what's that? It's different (°Д°;?

Your Big Sister can build Zoids even in the dark. She can identify every part of every Zoid, even the mainspring. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that she can assemble them well... Big sister seems to be popular with everyone, and that makes me happy as an artist.

* ModeMu refers to Modelling Musume, an unrelated feature from Dengeki Hobby Magazines about girls who build model kits. Thanks to Falcarius for helping me figure this one out!

The sixth and final story is for Murasame Liger. Although the main story hadn't aired yet, I tried to draw the characteristic Murasame Blade as a Japanese sword, in a way that only illustrations could explain. I'm happy that this painting was well received by both Tomy and the editorial department. I think that this is the commemorative piece that lead to the box arts of both Generations kits and Kotobukiya's HMMs.
