The Rise of Beast-Type Zoids

- From Dinosaur-Type to Beast-Type

In the era of the giant dragon-type shelled organisms, the small shelled fauna trembled at their fury, living hidden in rocks and lurking under cover. Compared to those giants, they were weak, small and powerless, but they had a single superior point. Their efficiency at generating and consuming energy was surprisingly good.

Eating little and moving nimbly, they built up their number of offspring in caves and the few remaining warm underground caverns during the "cold period", preparing for their own upcoming era.

They cleverly inherited the energy generation method their ancestors once used, "chemically decomposing the absorbed metallic elements within their bodies to gain energy", and thereby survived the "cold period" and awaited their later prosperity.

Furthermore, something that definitively separated the rise and fall of the two groups was the necessity of a solvent when reproducing - in other words, water. Even the Zoid Core, their method of overcoming adversity, was not all-powerful.

The giant dragon-type shelled organisms required an abundant source of water in the environment where their Zoid Cores would grow into juveniles, so on the frozen land of the glacial periods, they were unable to grow and could only die out. The beast-type shelled organisms did not necessarily require water to grow, so they were able to develop.

Most species of giant dragon-type shelled organisms were on the verge of extinction, but some of them formed an unexpected ambush for the beast-types. Before the fall of the planetesimals, some of them sought for a place to survive in the high-pressure, high-temperature territory of underground lava reservoirs, and continued to live quietly in this environment similar to the primeval seawater in which they had originated.

However, they were ultimately special cases, and could not gain the strength to take back the surface from the smaller animals.

And so, since approximately 30 million years ago, the surface became a world of diverse beast-type shelled organisms derived from the small animals.

Time passed, and when the climate became warm again, the beast types flourished even more, and large species such as whales and elephants began to appear once again.

They underwent a process of evolution different to that on Earth, and apparently there were species among them that grew to dinosaur sizes.
